Royan 2016

Bonjour!

We had an orientation weekend for all the Rotary inbounds in Royan in the middle of September. It has already been couple of weeks since then, and now I finally found the time and energy to make a post about it!

When we arrived in the Friday evening with the other Angoulême students, there were just few students. Soon all the others arrived one, two or three at a time. It was our first weekend together, so everybody was excited to meet each other. Because all the exchange students are part of a big family, it didn't take a lot of time until the whole place was filled with noise and laughter!

In the evening, we had a meal with the rotarians and after that, a party until 2 o'clock in the morning. The party was awesome, lots of latino music and awesome people!

The next morning after breakfast we had an information meeting with the district chairman and the other anglophones. After that we headed to an outdoor parkour thing (a lot of ropes, slides, lines etc. that were between trees in a forest)(like Flowpark in Finland). I was very afraid, because I'm afraid of hights, but even if I just made it through the easiest track, I was very proud of myself, because even during that I had to face my fear many times! But it was awesome!

After the parkour thing, we had a nice picknick at the beach. We ate, listened to music and took some pics before heading back to the camping area. There we started to practise our "talents" for the evening show. We ended up doing a Hannah Montana Dance with five other students!

In the evening, first we had a flag parade. Everybody wore their blazers, we walked around with our flags for a bit and then everyone/every country sang their national anthem. I was the only Finn in 1690, so I had to sing alone. I was very afraid of it and it wasn't perfect but I did it! After the parade we had a dinner again with the Rotarians and then was time for the talent show. Our dance wasn't very well prepared, but we had a lot of fun, and that's what matters! After the show, we had a party like in Friday evening.

On Sunday we packed our stuff and after that we just chilled together, changed pins and talked a lot! After lunch was time for goodbye hugs, but everybody knew we'll meet at the beginning of November, and À Novembre! was probably the most used sentence that day!

The weekend was awesome, and I can't wait for the next one! Merci beaucoup!

Nea
